Dancing with Power: An Embodied Exploration of Whiteness

For White-identified leaders ready to do some inner work using theatre.

In an increasingly polarized world, the journey to creating healthy, inclusive, and equity-driven workplaces has never been more critical. Key to this journey is for White-identified leaders to use their social and positional power to transform their workplace cultures and achieve racial equity.  To do that, White-identified leaders need to pause and grapple with how Whiteness - white culture norms and privilege – lives in the ways and systems they lead.

This program is that pause; a space for White-identified leaders to engage in an embodied exploration of Whiteness in their leadership.  Beyond books and training, this program invites White-identified leaders into a courageous and compassionate guided journey to access their bodies’ wisdom, drop their armor, and move beyond performative allyship – from awareness to action.

If you are a White-identified leader who feels stuck in figuring out how to meaningfully engage with DEI and anti-racism work, is ready and committed to investigate what keeps you stuck, wants to use embodied ways of knowing, and is open to learning with and in community, this guided journey is for you.

We use Social Presencing Theatre, an embodied social arts-based change methodology, developed under the leadership of Arawana Hayashi, to conduct this exploration. This program will be offered again in the Fall.
